As the Pendulum's scythe-like blade rose up the condemned man quickly jumped up and grabbed the flat of the blade going up with it. Once the pendulum reached past the trapdoor the character climbed through dark tunnels and eventually came out into a local town unscathed and fine.
Like your play on the pendulum- his worst enemy became his best friend. It's fitting and ironic at the same time the pendulum almost killed him he used it to save him from being killed. And you actually have a logical, complete ending. Poe could use that.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the way that you made his death sentence into the thing that ultimately saved his life. It would have been nice to know what happened to him after, but it is also good to let the imagination run wild and let the reader think about what may have happened next!
